The short version

There are no accounts, so nothing here is tied to a name. Your searches, your blacklist and your history never leave your browser. The statistics we keep about traffic are pseudonymous and rotate daily. Two things are exceptions and are described plainly below: Google Analytics, and a server log that records addresses.

What stays on your device

Your active source, filters, saved searches, browsing history, tag blacklist and age confirmation are kept in your browser’s localStorage under pawprint-storage and age_confirmed. They are never sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data erases all of it permanently — we hold no copy and cannot restore it.

Cookies

The site itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics does — first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, used to tell repeat visits from new ones. That is the only cookie set on this domain and the only third-party measurement on the site.

Google Analytics receives the page you are on, your approximate location, and general device and browser information. It deliberately does not receive your search terms: the query string is filtered to an allowlist before any page view is reported, because a booru search attached to whatever profile Google already holds for your browser is a different thing from a number counted here.

Blocking Google Analytics — with an extension, a content blocker, or your browser’s tracking protection — costs you nothing on this site. Everything works identically.

Advertising

Where the feed shows a sponsored slot, it is rendered inside a sandboxed iframe that is not granted same-origin access. The advertiser’s code therefore cannot set cookies on this domain, cannot read your localStorage, cannot see the page around it, and cannot see what you searched for. It knows only that a slot was displayed, plus what any web request reveals — your IP address and user agent.

We count how many slots were displayed. We do not receive, and could not build, a profile of who saw which advertisement.

Traffic statistics

Visits, session length, countries, device types and search terms are counted on our own servers. Visitors are identified by a keyed hash of IP address and user agent that rotates every day at midnight UTC, so nothing links a visitor across two days, and the hash cannot be reversed to an address. No cookie is involved. These counts are aggregate and are kept for 180 days.

The site also measures which posts were on screen and for how long, to understand what people actually look at. That is kept for 7 days, and the associated scroll data for 2 days.

The server log — please read this one

Unlike the statistics above, we keep a server log that is not pseudonymous. One entry per visit and per search records the IP address, an approximate location derived from it (city, region, coordinates), the browser, platform and language, and the search as it was typed. It is retained for 180 days and then deleted automatically.

It is readable only by the site operator, behind a password, and is used to investigate abuse and diagnose faults. It is not sold, shared or used for advertising.

If you write to us

A message sent through the feedback form is stored with your IP address, your user agent, and a summary of your recent activity on the site, so that a report can be understood in context and abuse can be answered. Do not send anything through that form you would not want associated with your address. Messages can be deleted on request.

Content from other sites

Images and videos are served directly by the booru they come from — e621, rule34, Danbooru or Furbooru. Loading them means your browser contacts those sites, which see your IP address under their own privacy policies. We do not control them.

Your rights

There is no account to delete. To have the log entries or feedback associated with your address removed, or to ask what is held, write to abuse@e621.io from an address we can reply to, including the IP address you used. Everything described here is deleted automatically at the retention periods above regardless.

Children

This site is for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly retain information from anyone under 18.
